Tell me the season is almost over

Do you know what B2B means? It’s super corporate talk for “Business to Business”.. B2C means “Business to Consumer”.. and both of those acronyms mean bummer times for me. See I’m currently building a B2B website for work where skateshops across the land can go and order decks, bearings and shirts 24 hours a day.. Sometime down the line this may be ported over to a B2C site.. The upshot is that as we’re drawing closer to completion of this hog my entire week has been spent looking at stuff like this..

My job is pretty 50/50 between artistic-creativity and code-nerdery.. However, this week has been 100% nerdy. The other day I walked past a co-worker who was on a smoke break. We talked for a minute and then he asked “are you ok?”

I realized that the stress of building this über-site was all over my face. The thing with writing code is that you’ll work on one problem and bang your head against the wall for awhile until you solve it. You rejoice for about 3 minutes until you realize the next problem that you need to solve and you start all over again..

I have a complete love/hate relationship with code. I love the problem solving but some days it drains me of my will to continue.

Luckily I have things to keep me grounded. Such as..

1. Date Night. Which this week I chose to turn into beer chugging wednesday.

2. The Brio train set which is currently in our living room compliments of our 20 month old houseguest Logan.

3. This live version of Laura Gibson’s “Hands In Pockets”

It’s the simple things that matter most.. not {if then} statements or {conditional loops}..
