I didn’t make a speech at today’s memorial. I thought about it.. walking up there and delivering a short but sweet speech.. but I was too busy crying into my Blue Oyster Cult handkerchief. In my alternate reality where I did muster up the strength to speak this is what I said.
I never sat on committees or task forces with John Lisher. However he did teach me how to hang sheet rock as well as myriad puns and jokes. Most importantly John taught me to believe in my community, that hard work and perseverance will pay off and that there is no greater reward then in being a devoted and loving husband. I can say without doubt that I am a better man for having known John. I love you and miss you.
In closing I have a youtube that is not only a current jammy jam of mine but also seems so timely..
Please hold those you love a little closer tonight.
