I think I may have said this in my review but this album feels like an old friend.
My sleepytime album of the year. A track called "Gobbledigook"? awesome!!
I've got to thank NPR for turning me on to this record. A great album for lazing around the house on a saturday morning.
My favorite weirdo. Thanks Dan Bejar for soundtracking many of my trips down whiskey lane.
It's weird to me that one of my favorite albums of the year has a song that starts out with the line.. "I'm tired of sucking the dick of this cruel, cruel city" but what you gonna do? Insane lyrics and amazing music.
By now I'm such a Mike Skinner fan it's ridiculous.. While some might not be as into him getting all introspective I can't get enough of it.
Hearing Will Sheff explain the story behind "Starry Stairs", which consequentially is related to "Savannah Smiles" from the Stage Names, really changed my world. I was both excited and completely depressed at the same time. I sat in the dark and listened to both songs several times. Heavy times. Great album.. "On Tour With Zykos" is great too.. One drunken night I made a great comparrision (in my head) of Okkervil River to John Steinbeck.. I'm still backing that.
I told ya'll when I review this album it would be on year end list. Love these dudes..
Connor Oberst being anywhere near my list is amazing to me. I never was much of a Bright Eyes fan but this album really got me. Listen to it while driving highway 1 between San Francisco and Santa Cruz.
I really had to conciously make myself stop listening to this record for fear that I would ruin it for myself. "Head Rolls Off" is so damn good...
Not the same band that sang "Popular".. ok well technically they are but this song is so much better!
This song always convinces me that maybe I should try smoking pot again.. I shouldn't.
This song started the love affair.
After hearing forever about these guys I finally listened to them.. This song floored me. Great walking music if you want to be somewhere in a hurry.
My ipod, work computer and home computer know this song by heart.
The subtitles are "From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness" and "No World For Tomorrow". For some reason these insane, overblown and Hot Topic-esque songs get me after a night of drinking... Am I recomending them to anyone? Nope.. Do I listen to them with frequency? Yep. Go figure.
Reminds me of my sister in law, getting tattooed and brian (for some odd reason).
I experienced some loss this year. This album is perfect mourning/morning music.. Makes my day brighter everytime.
So I finally fell under the trance of this young man and immediately felt stupid for not already being there.
Pure Brilliance. I can't say enough good things about "Good Life"
When you only go to one concert it's pretty easy to pick a favorite. This one would have been it anyways though. He's so rad.
I need to be more on the ball of reviewing albums and seeking out new music.. Total New Year Resolution time.
