A free download of biting, clever hip hop satire from a Brooklynite originally signed for his Beck-esque folk pop music and eccentric Baptist preacher stage act. This album kicks so much ass; it's damn funny and spot on in its execution. The guy is a force of nature.
It's also freer than "In Rainbows." Download it here: timfite.com
Watch the dude here:
I want you to buy my record
So I can sell out in 60 seconds
At the Best Buy I wanna be the best guy
You know that I'm better than the next guy
Even though we both sound exactly alike
Is that Jadakiss or is that Tim Fite?
I don't know, but I'm still gonna buy it
Consumerism is the shit, now try it
Most beautiful record of the year. Gorgeous twilight pop from seven Icelanders. Fans of The 1900s or Appendix Out will dig it.
Foot-tapping, pretty Chicago orch pop. Outstanding album up and down. Full sound, good variety, great arrangements, brilliant vocals.
Come summer you'll want this on heavy, lazy rotation. Former Luna duo. So smooth.
Needed an album with some ridiculous sugar rush energy. "Put a little mustard on your mustard!" These guys are fun.
Forget Kanye, this is a point blank shot at 50 Cent:
Just shoot me a little bit man
Make it look good
Not every rapper does it
But every rapper should
It's a good career move, you'll see
When everybody goes and gets shot like me
First listened--really listened--to this song when they played it live on Sound Opinions on Chicago Public Radio. They're right. Might like it better than "Young Folks," if that's possible.
Monday morning
We have to fly back home again
While I'm sleeping
You paint a ring on my finger with your black marker pen
Joy, joy, jump for joy Georgia
Jump for joy, joy, joy
So darling please, show your teeth
Just one more dance to help me sleep
Whirl, cold water eyes
Fill the past with friendly nights
We used poisonous gasses
And we poisoned their asses

Reissue goodness with these minimalist rockers. Love how Alison Statton weaves melodies with her voice on top of stripped down bass and percussion. Surprisingly infectious.
What the Kiwis were listening to the year before. At least two other non-reggae-loving friends have adopted the Drop as their own. Ranges into jazz and soul. Lead singer is great.
Props to Bennett for this one. He was very clear to get Vol. 4, featuring Mulatu Astatke, the "father of Ethio-jazz." Brilliant stuff, can't recommend this highly enough. Got some play in Jarmusch's "Broken Flowers" soundtrack.
